A trend of today’s day and age that I think will be really prevalent in the future is sustainable development. This is something that is relatively new, and will only become more prevalent due to its significance. The world that we live on is very limited with its resources, and in the past we have been using them excessively. This abuse has been brought to our eyes, and more people are starting to take action against it. Due to the cultural significance, and the importance of sustainable development, it will have a very drastic impact on our future. 

Ever since the creation of business people have been looking for the most efficient way to complete their jobs. By doing this they are able to create more faster, but also burn more resources. This has started a very damaging trend in our world. People would recklessly use any resources available to them despites the consequences. This has had an effect on everyone’s daily lives, from heat waves, to strange weather patterns, and many other abnormalities. These frightening changes have finally been brought to the world’s attention and people are finally fighting back. There is a common understanding that if something doesn’t change soon, there will be drastic consequences. This is why sustainable development will have a huge impact on our future. Most people have been trying to limit their usage of valuable resources. From using less water when you shower, to washing your clothes in the cold, there are many ways for people to help out. Additionally, these things are becoming much more common, people are now acting more environmentally safe by habit. Proving that eventually this will change our lives, and become parts of our daily routines.

Another reason why these changes will become much more common is the fact that they are being regulated by the government. The government is attempting to make it so that acting environmentally conscious is the law. Not only for the average person, but for larger corporations as well. By doing this they are effectively changing our future, and making sure that it will be safer and protected for all of us. This effort was started by the United Nations as a world-wide program trying to improve the world through their 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). These goals define a pathway to a brighter and more sustained future. They represent a necessary change that will happen in our world and in our lives, and will impact the future as we know it. It will not only make our world a more efficient place, but it will also make our world a better, more protected place for our children. In short, these sustainability goals will change our lives greatly, and it will protect us from doing any irreversible damage to our planet.

I understand how many people may think that these are not as significant as other cultural things are. However, I believe that while these changes are not as important or large currently, in the near future they will be much more real and prevalent. Many parts of the world have already changed for the worse due to the impact of pollution and our carbon footprints. While it isn’t 100% noticeable currently, it is getting to the point where we need to make necessary changes. These changes will change our lives, and while some may be hard to make, they are entirely necessary to save our planet. Therefore, I believe that sustainable development will have one of the largest impacts on our lives and our futures in the next couple of years.
